But seek ye first the kingdom of God,
and his righteousness; and all these things
shall be added unto you. ~~~Matthew 6:33
"Seek Ye First"
Life is a mixture
of sunshine and rain,
Good things and bad things,
pleasure and pain
We can't have all sunshine,
but it's certainly true
There is never a cloud
the sun doesn't shine through
So always remember
that whatever betide you
The power of God
is always beside you,
And if friends disappoint you
and plans go astray
And nothing works out
in just the right way,
And you feel you have failed
in achieving your goal,
And that life wrongly placed you
in an unfitting role...
Take heart and "stand tall"
and think who you are,
For God is your Father
and no one can bar
Or keep you from reaching
your desired success,
Or withhold the joy
that is yours to possess
For with God on your side
it matters not who
Is working to keep
life's good things from you,
For you need nothing more
than God's guidance and love
To insure you the things
that you're most worthy of...
So trust in His wisdom
and follow His ways,
And be not concerned
with the world's empty praise,
But seek first His Kingdom
and you will possess
The world's greatest riches
which is true happiness.

"Oh, for the Wings"
Oh, for the wings of a bird we cry,
to carry us off to an untroubled sky
Where we can dwell untouched by care
and always be free as a bird in the air,.
But there is a legend that's very old,
not often heard and seldom told,
That once all birds were wingless, too,
unable to soar through skies of blue,
They too were powerless to fly--
until one day the Lord came by
And laid at the feet of the singing birds
gossamer wings as He spoke these words,
"Come take these burdens so heavy now,
but if you bear them you'll learn somehow
That as you wear them they'll grow light
and soon you can lift yourselves into flight."
So, folding the wings beneath their hearts
and after endless failures and starts,
They lifted themselves and found with delight
the wings that were heavy had grown so light.
So whenever you cry for the wings of a bird,
remember this little legend you've heard
And let God give you a heart that sings
as He turns your burdens to silver wings.
"Just Call upon Him"
The boy walked along the ocean shore . . . trying
not to stray.
He looked up to his father saying, “Dad, I want to
play.”
His father looked upon him, with love showing in his
eyes.
“Do what you want to, my son . . . but do not leave
my side.”
“I would never leave you Daddy, I love you way too
much.”
But the boy took a step away, out of his father’s
range of touch.
He walked through the surf, the waves tickling one
toe.
“If I take one more step in . . .” he thought, “Father
will never know.”
His father called out to him, “Son, to me remain true!”
The boy thought with glee . . . “At the moment I don’t
need you!”
His father felt a sadness, but he held his tongue.
Sometimes lessons need to be learned . . . even when
so young.
The boy stepped out a little further . . . the water
covering his waist.
His father spoke with urgency . . . his father spoke
with haste.
“My son, come back to me,” he said, “The day is almost
done!”
“Not yet, Dad,” the boy yelled, “I’m having too much
fun!”
But the boy did not have his father’s insight . .
. so he could not yet tell,
The tide was coming in fast . . . there would be no
time to yell.
“Father!” he tried to scream, as the water covered
his head.
“I need you now, Daddy!” was what the boy had said.
And in a single instant his father was by his side.
“I thought you left me, Daddy . . . I thought you
went to hide.”
The father looked upon his son . . . a tear streaming
down his cheek.
The boy looked upon his father . . . and cried the
sobs of the meek.
“I would never leave you son . . . for I love you
just the same.”
“I was only waiting . . . for you to call upon my
name.”
